About the event
In celebration of the History of the FA Cup some of the world’s oldest clubs have
got together to play in a new brand of football competition, The Generation Cup!
There are three qualifying events at Old Carthusians and Civil Service grounds in
the south and at Darwen FC in the north The finals day is at St George’s Park care
of the FA.
Last year was the FACUP150 and the inaugural teams entered teams and Crystal
Palace of the premier league lifted the cup defeating The Civil Service and Upton
Park at St George’s Park on finals day.
Netflix subscribers might have seen “The English Game” and be reminded it was
the clubs and people from the Northwest of England that took on the Amateur
Clubs and Public schools of the South. We revisit these rivalries today and in this
year’s Generation Cup between these teams, we have 14 FA Cup wins and some
great FA Cup finals to be remembered!
This new competition is “father and son” football where club legends of
yesterday share the same pitch with present day players, the ultimate dream
team
